Netflix snapped up SVOD rights to upcoming CBS event drama Zoo. The global thriller, based on the novel by James Patterson, is slated for broadcast in summer 2015. Why the hurry? “Zoo is just the kind of smart, gripping and shocking series that Netflix members love,” said Sean Carey, VP, content licensing for the streaming service. – @Cynopsis

We all know it’s a cutthroat world for scripted shows – it’s sink or swim and ratings margins are incredibly close. There are some blockbuster series and then there are the everyday sitcoms and dramas. Take Enlisted, for example – a great, heartwarming series that has something simply special about it. Maybe it’s that all the people are “special.” But it takes them seriously just as all people should be. But it’s series like these, and I guess Zoo, that could potentially be materially enriched by digital distributors such as Amazon and Netflix taking shots on them. And it’s all about good content, so anything that enriches it is good, right? This is today’s syndication and I love it.
Anyway, no Emmys for Enlisted… but here’s the full list via ABC anyway. http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/emmy-nominations-2014-complete-list/story?id=24501383
